The movie Love and Basketball stars Omar Epps(Quincy McCall) and Sanaa Lathan (Monica Wright); there was other stars but these are the ones that i thought were the most important. In 1981 in L.A., Monica moves in next door to Quincy. They’re 11, and both want to play in the NBA, just like Quincy’s dad. Their love-hate relationship lasts into high school, with Monica’s edge and Quincy’s top-dog attitude separating them, except when Quincy’s parents argue and he climbs through Monica’s window to sleep on the floor. As high school ends, they come together as a couple, but within a year, with both of them playing ball at USC, Quincy’s relationship with his father takes an ugly turn, and it leads to a break up with Monica. Some years later, their pro careers at a crossroads, they meet again. It’s time for a final game of one-on-one with high stakes.

Poetic Justice is a very good movie, it stars Janet Jackson(Justice), Tupac Shakur(Lucky), and Regina King(Iesha). After witnessing the murder of her first and only boyfriend, young Justice decides to forget about college and become a South Central Los Angeles hairdresser. Avoiding friends, the only way for her to cope with her depression is by composing beautiful poetry. On her way to a convention in Oakland, she is forced to ride with an independent-minded postal worker whom she has not gotten along with in the past. After various arguments between them and their friends, they start to discover that their thoughts on violence, socially and domestically, are the same. Justice may finally feel that she is not as alone as before.

By: Mary Higgins Clark

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you were being charged with two murders that you knew you had nothing to do with but couldn’t prove it? Well in this book Molly Lasch finds out and it makes a terrible turn in her life. This book is full of suspense and mystery and when it comes down to it Molly only has a couple of friends to turn to.

The main characters in this book are Molly Lasch, Fran Simmons, Dr. Peter Black, Cal and Jenna Whitehal, and Phillip Martin. Molly Lasch is the former wife of Gary Lasch, one of the people that she was accused of murdering. Fran Simmons is an investigative reporter and she is running a special on the Molly Lasch case to see if she can get to the bottom of it to prove that Molly is innocent. Fran is also the daughter of a man that stole money from the towns library fund; every where she turns some one is always bringing that up. Dr. Peter Black was Gary’s former partner and is known in charge of the hospital. Cal Whitehal is in charge of the finances dealing with Lasch and Remington Hospital. Jenna is Molly’s best friend from school and has been with her through this whole ordeal. Phillip Martin is Molly’s lawyer which has been with her since day one and is determined to prove that she is innocent.

This book takes place over the course of several years, in court, jail, the hospital and several other places that I won’t go into detail about. Like I said this book is about a women name Molly that is trying to do whatever she can to prove her innocence. The problem is that some people are trying to make her think that she did do it. However there is one person that knows what happen the night Gary died and it’s up to his mother to determine whether or not he talks to the cops. Gary was having an affair with one of the nurses at the hospital, Annemarie Scali, who was also killed after she had met with Molly. Fran Simmons is doing her best to prevent Molly from going back to jail. Will Molly’s case ever get solved?

This was a very good book and I like the way the author through in twist; when you think the case was closed some thing else came up. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes mysteries and has a really advanced thinking brain. If you want to find out how the mystery was solved, READ THE BOOK!

Dear Mom-Mom Batten,

I am so thankful that God placed a woman with so, much anointing in my life. You have blessed me in more ways than I can count and anytime time I need a shoulder to lean on you are always there for me. You pray for me in times of struggle, you give me money for the little jobs I do around your house, and you are always so cheerful and sweet in the toughest of situations; you can love me and scold me with that same loving smile.

Mom-Mom you have been there since the beginning of time and for that I am truly grateful, I don’t know how we could go on without you; you are the glue that holds this hectic family together. You’re always giving and sometimes I believe that you don’t know when to stop but it comes to show the more you give the more God blesses you in return.

For where can we find such a virtuous woman who’s price is far above rubies, I think I have already found that women in you. No matter what life throws at you, you remain the same and that is one of the main reasons why that I admire you. Your never giving up spirit and always wanting to better yourself has truly rubbed off on me.

I love you from the bottom of my heart and wish you a speedy recovery. As you continue to give, May God Bless you in return.

Your Marvelous Granddaughter,

Through out the years I have achieved so much, yet I spent so little time writing or recording my accomplishments. We often take for granted the things we achieve and we never give thanks where thanks and credit are due. Sometimes we often forget who helped us get where we are today and most of the time if it wasn’t for them, where would we be today?

Over the years I have accumulated several math, science, language arts, and other academic awards, however they can mean very little if you aren’t grateful for them. These many awards are just fruits of my hard and dedicated labor to my school work. Many times I have been on the “A” honor roll but what does that mean? You see if you don’t take the time to truly think about why it is that you have earned so many awards it will never mean anything to you.

But I believe the one that had the greatest impact on me was the math award because I love money and math, it showed me that I could do anything that I put my mind to and without a little challenge my whole way of thinking would be different. Since I have received so many math awards and math is my favorite subject I tend to find the mathematical point of view in every subject to keep the blood flowing in my brain because other subjects can be a little dry. To top it all off the world couldn’t thrive as it is now without math and I believe math will help me more in life than any other subject because it can be applied to the career path that I have chosen.

Several times I have been awarded for some great academic achievement and have even received principal’s commendation; I guess it will help me in the long run. In seventh grade I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and over the summer I volunteered for over 1,000 hours. But what helped me get that many hours was my social skills that I acquired through the peer mediator and peer leader program that I have been apart of for three years. See if you stand for nothing you’ll fall for anything; all these awards just proved that I do stand for something.

I have also received several awards for volunteering at the Milton Public Library through out the year; volunteering may not seem all that beneficial but it will help you out in many ways in the long run whether you believe it or not is totally up to you. When you volunteer it gives you something to do so you can keep you out of trouble and it helps you keep your grades up because if you volunteer for something you really enjoy doing then you’ll be obligated to do what you have to, to continue doing it. Since I keep my grades up I was also accepted to Sussex Tech, now whether or not me having a brother and sister that goes to that school doesn’t matter the point is I got in.

So many times I often wonder how I got all these awards when all I can remember is stressing over whether or not I passed a test or not or if I did my homework because I couldn’t find it. My friends would always say I worry too much and that I know I passed the test and that I did my homework, they were always right; but to this day I do not know how I could lose my homework inside of a math book or in my book bag, I guess I was just looking over it.

You don’t have to be smart to receive awards you just have to be dedicated and devoted; the more you worry the less courage you’ll have. If you shoot for the stars you’ll land on the moon and that’s exactly what I intend on doing.
